Our Commitment to Maritime Tradition and its Future
As one of the leading companies in the port industry, we are proud not only to deliver excellent services in port logistics but also to make a significant contribution to promoting maritime culture.
A distinctive feature of our corporate group is its structure: The sole shareholder of Addicks & Kreye Holding GmbH is the non-profit Georg Kreye Foundation. The foundation was established through the will of our long-standing owner, Georg Kreye junior. His wish was to preserve and promote the rich maritime tradition.
The purpose of the foundation is to support the Friends of the German Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven from the profits distributed to it. Thus, our business activities contribute to ensuring that the fascination and knowledge surrounding ports and the maritime industry are preserved and can be further developed.
The German Maritime Museum (DSM) in Bremerhaven is Germany’s national research and maritime museum and belongs to the renowned Leibniz Association. Since its opening in 1975, the DSM has uniquely conveyed the history and future of maritime shipping.
Across five exciting thematic areas and with over 2,000 exhibits, visitors interactively experience how technology, research, and maritime history are interconnected – from historical shipbuilding to polar and marine research, and modern navigation.
In addition to the exhibition, the DSM fulfills three central tasks:
Research, Collection & Preservation, and Education & Outreach.
Further information can be found on the museum’s official website.
